This is our weekly Question Of The Week piece. Every week we will take a question we have been asked by a client, a prospect, a friend or even just some nice stranger when we try to explain what we do every day!

This week’s question was answered by one of our founders Jason.
I received an email back from a prospect today who we had been pitching on a website + marketing custom deal. Read it here below:
For clarification this is a small business who does a reasonable amount of work every year from a brick and mortar workshop. About 84% of his business comes from word of mouth referrals and the rest are either walk ins or from a small flyer drop he does.
Now the last business that we had the opportunity to build a website for and do some minor on page SEO, went from roughly 1 to 3 calls per day to averaging over 30 a day. Websites aren’t the future of your business, they are the now!
Here are the three biggest reasons you MUST have a website:
1. Websites Provide Trust
For potential clients, having a website means that when they search for you they can find you. Not only that, but knowing that your website is clean and professional will convince them that you are a professional who can do what you say. For the vast majority of people who are money conscious, not having a website adds in a level of distrust that in most cases has no grounding but is nonetheless there.
2. People Can Find You
For local and small businesses, your largest issue is finding a way to let people know that you exist. A website allows you to move towards other marketing campaigns, whether that is SEO, PPC campaigns or anything else under the sun – a website is where people will expect to end up.
Not only that, but if someone searches for your exact company name and desperately need your address to find your business and your yet to set up a maps listing and don’t have a website, they are just going to find someone else. A quality product or service is crucial to a business’s viability but even that will take you only so far. Being accessible is crucial to customers choosing you over competitors.
3. Websites Sell Your Service
Whatever kind of business you are, a website can be optimized to sell your business. With decent design and good copywriting, making sales will be even easier. If you take the time and make the investment into your website, all it takes is a minimal marketing campaign for you to take over your market. No matter how great your in person sales tactics are, they are either a huge drain on time for you or a large cost to pay someone else to do it.
Save yourself the time and money of an extensive sales program and just invest in your website instead.
Key Takeaway
GET. A. WEBSITE. Not next financial year, not next week – TODAY! The longer you wait the more clients you are missing out on. Even if you don’t have a large budget to do it, it is more than affordable for EVERYONE to get a site live and make improvements as they can.
